“Medellín, un siglo de tango” es un espectáculo escénico contemporáneo que narra la historia del tango en la ciudad, desde su llegada a comienzos del siglo XX hasta su consolidación como una identidad cultural propia. A través de la danza, la música en vivo, el canto y el teatro, la obra reconstruye los momentos más importantes que han hecho de Medellín uno de los principales referentes del tango a nivel mundial, resaltando su evolución, apropiación y proyección internacional.
El montaje, de gran formato y 75 minutos de duración, reúne a 30 artistas en escena, entre ellos una orquesta en vivo conformada por músicos locales, ocho parejas de baile y tres cantantes. Además, cuenta con la participación internacional del maestro Fausto Salinas en el bandoneón y los arreglos musicales de Fabio Sánchez, generando un diálogo entre lo local y lo global.
La obra está estructurada en cuatro cuadros que recorren distintos momentos históricos: la llegada del tango con el ferrocarril, el impacto de la muerte de Carlos Gardel en 1935, el auge del tango en el barrio Guayaquil durante los años 50 y 60, y su proyección y consolidación desde finales del siglo XX hasta la actualidad.
El espectáculo no solo exalta la memoria cultural de la ciudad, sino que reafirma a Medellín como epicentro del tango en el mundo.
